Current work
Having taken a 'pregnant pause' throught 2014/15 I continue my textile work developing ideas and thought processes via book art and am becoming more and more interested in the relationships between images, sound and 'feeling' - I recently attended a creative writers workshop run by a local Edinburgh writer, drawing inspiration.

blogging, textiles and painting Overall, my work delves into constructing, making and developing concepts; My picture blog collages explore the language of imagery, inspiring my thought processes and sourced from a personal perspective it comments on the visual world that influences us all... I'm currently updating my blog to incorporate prose. I'm also intrigued by pattern and texture and I'm researching emotional journeys depicting the 'process of recovery' through textile installation. I continue to study painting & the beauty within landscapes and their ever changing influence on our emotional selves. |

Work, play ... love (to study) Having a love of the visual arts I studied life drawing and jewellery design before completing an honours degree in textile design at Heriot Watt University where I discovered a love of making art books. A gap year placement, during my degree, at the Transatlantic Clothing Company gave me insight into creating imagery for Japanese and German markets. 1975 - 1993
Childhood & adolescence Inspired by observations, conversations and social justice I remember at the age of eight, illustrating and writing an imaginative tale about a friendly horse that could fly; at ten years old making a mock up of Downing Street from cereal packets in my grandparent's living room; and encouraging a protest for the environment and equality in the annual speech making contest at secondary school, year in year out . . . I continue to promote equality in my art today... combining my two passions! |
